Live edge tables made to measure

A custom wooden table starts with the timber: its grain, natural edge and the shape that suits your room. For a live edge table, iQonya offers a solid slab or a composition with epoxy resin. In our Zevenhuizen workshop we bring together the dimensions, finish and base. The collection shows tables we have already made.

Completed designs and products from our collection. Availability and specifications vary; bespoke examples are designed anew for your project.

Choosing the timber

Cedar often has a calm, warm appearance; olive wood has striking golden-brown grain, while juniper offers colour variation and organic shapes. Compare the actual pieces, including cracks and openings. A table may use a single slab or several timber sections joined with resin.

Planning a made-to-measure wooden table

We select timber pieces suited to the table you have in mind. A live edge follows the natural shape of the wood; a straighter design calls for a discussion about the edge finish. Epoxy resin can fill openings or join separate pieces. Bring a room sketch and a collection example so we can consider shape, timber and everyday use together.

Dimensions and seating

Start with your chairs and the space around them. Allow roughly 60 cm of table edge per person and around 90 cm behind a chair as an initial guide. Wide armchairs need more room. With a natural edge, check the narrowest usable width and leg positions as well as the overall dimensions.

What does a live edge table cost?

Our published guide is €600–€1,000 per m² for live edge tables and €1,500–€3,000 per m² for resin designs. These are indications, not a fixed price for every example. Timber selection, resin quantity, size, finish and base determine the quotation. Discuss delivery and installation costs too.

From selection to daily use

We agree the design, price and expected schedule for your order. Care advice depends on the finish. Use coasters, wipe up spills and avoid concentrated heat. Wood continues to respond to its environment, so placement and regular care matter.

Olive, juniper or cedar: compare real examples

The species offers a starting point, but the individual slab determines the result. These photographs show different projects, lighting and finishes. Compare colour and sheen in the workshop too.

Olive: expressive grain

On this dining table, translucent light-blue resin follows the golden-brown timber shapes. Rounded ends bring the separate shapes into one elongated top. Consider how much grain and colour you want in your own table.

Juniper: pale and reddish-pink tones

This coffee table shows reddish-pink timber, pale lines and a blue lagoon at one end. The natural edge remains visible. For a new top, the available timber shape determines where the resin and colour accents go.

Cedar live edge dining table with dark epoxy

Cedar: timber lines with dark resin

This cedar dining top combines natural timber shapes with dark resin. Compare the broad timber areas with the resin infill. The example measures 243 × 118 cm; another size requires a different timber selection.

Live-edge or epoxy table: what changes?

The names overlap: an epoxy table can also have a natural live edge. Compare the construction and specification of the actual top.

Shape and constructionThe shape and usable width of a solid slab guide the design. Ask whether your chosen slab is a single piece.Resin can fill openings or join several timber pieces. The composition determines the river, edge and outline.
AppearanceGrain, the natural edge and the chosen wood finish shape its appearance.Alongside the timber, choose colour, transparency and the balance of wood and resin.
PriceTimber selection, size, machining, finish and base determine the quote.Resin volume and casting work also matter. A per-m² guide is not a complete table price.
CareMatch cleaning and periodic care to the oil or other finish on your top.Protect against heat and scratches. The resin and wood finish need suitable care.

From timber to a finished design

A blue river between olive wood

In the olive dining table with a deep-blue resin river, the curved inner edges guide the blue line. Photographs of the timber and finished top show how placement determines the composition. Warm grain remains visible beside the dark river. For your version, we select new pieces and assess the space the top needs in your room.

Two coffee tables with seaside details

This olive wood pair combines irregular timber shapes with resin and small seaside details. Two separate tops allow different arrangements. The gallery shows how grain, resin and details work together at a smaller scale. For your seating area, we discuss height, proportions and circulation individually.
