Epoxy table care: cleaning, heat and scratches
The right care depends on your top’s finish. Timber with resin can also include oiled wood. This guidance follows our existing care instructions; ask which maintenance product and method suit your particular specification.
Everyday cleaning
Remove spills and food promptly with a soft cotton or microfibre cloth. Use a lightly damp cloth, then dry the surface. Follow the grain on the timber. Avoid aggressive or abrasive cleaners; for stubborn dirt, ask about a cleaner suitable for your finish.
Hot pans, cups and prolonged heat
Do not put hot pans directly on the top. Use coasters and protect the surface during meals or other activities. Resin and an oil finish can be affected by heat. If the table will sit near a heat source or in strong sunlight, discuss what suits your particular table.
Scratches and wear
Use placemats or a protective mat where plates, cutlery or other objects might damage the top. For scratches, rings or dull patches, send a photograph and explain what happened. Do not start sanding, polishing or using solvents without advice; the right repair method depends on the finish.
Periodic care for oiled timber
Our existing guidance for oiled tops is to re-oil as needed, often annually and potentially more frequently with intensive use. This is not a general instruction to oil every epoxy table. Confirm the correct product and method for your wood and resin. Follow the product instructions for application, drying time and safe handling of used oil cloths.
A wooden top in the bathroom
Wipe away standing water and avoid leaving wet items on the timber. Check the areas around the basin, tap and cutouts too. Discuss the finish and care for bathroom use when ordering; a photograph does not identify the treatment your own top needs.
