Your Personal 'River Table': From Raw Log to Design Piece

1. It Begins at the Source: The Log

Every project starts with selecting the wood. As you can see in the last photo in the gallery, we begin with raw, unpolished logs and burl wood. Would you like a robust slab with plenty of cracks and knots for a rugged character? Or are you looking for a calmer piece of olive, cedar or juniper wood with a subtle grain? You can choose the pieces of wood yourself that will form the basis of your table.

2. Epoxy: The Art of Colour

The 'river' flowing through the table sets the tone. In this example, a metallic 'Ocean Blue' epoxy was chosen, which contrasts beautifully with the warm olive wood. But your choices are endless:

• Metallic: For a luxurious, deep effect (such as gold, copper or blue).

• Transparent: To keep the natural "live" edge of the log visible.

• Solid: An opaque colour (such as sleek black or white) for a modern contrast.

3. The Finish: Determine the Colour Tone

Wood is a natural product and the colour can be guided with the right treatment. We use our enhanced wood oil (based on tung and sunflower oil) to protect the slab. Using our colour samples, you determine the 'finishing touch':

• Natural/Light: With a white-pigmented oil, we preserve the light, soft appearance of the fresh wood.

• Transparent: The classic treatment that "brings out" the grain and gives the wood a warm, golden glow.

• Dark: Would you like a chic, antique look? We can oil the wood slightly darker for more depth.

4. Legs and Base

No table is complete without the right base. Because we make everything bespoke, you are not bound to a single standard leg.

• Industrial: Robust steel matrix legs (spider legs) or X-legs, powder-coated in black or white.

• Refined: Slender hairpin legs or a subtle stainless steel frame.

• Natural: A base made of matching wood. You choose the height and shape that suits your seating area.
