The unique charm of a cedar live edge table
Robust tables usually bring oak or suar to mind. But have you ever considered cedar? For this project we chose solid cedar, a wood known for its warm, red-brown glow and its lovely, subtle scent.
What makes this wooden dining table so special is that the natural edges have been kept (the live edge). You can literally read the life of the tree in your interior. The top is finished silk-smooth, so it feels comfortable to the touch while keeping its rugged character. It is the perfect balance between a country feel and modern design.
A unified interior: the matching live edge lamp
A beautiful table deserves the right spotlight. To create unity and calm in the dining room, we at iQonya chose a unique solution: a live edge lamp made from the same wood as the table.
As the photographs show, a robust piece of cedar floats above the table. Black cords with vintage Edison bulbs are wound playfully around the beam. This does more than cast atmospheric light over dinner — it draws the eye upward. By matching the table and the lamp, you create a powerful vertical statement in the room.
Styling inspiration: warmth and contrast
This handmade live edge table shows how well wood combines with other materials. In this interior, the warm timber tones blend beautifully with:
