No Active Felling: Wood with an Honest Story
To make our exclusive live edge tables and epoxy resin tables, never is active felling used. We do not fell healthy trees to produce furniture. Instead, we search exclusively for trees that have already died.
How a tree comes to its end varies enormously and contributes to the unique character of the wood. We rescue trees that have fallen due to:
Natural circumstances: Old age or extreme weather conditions.
Lightning strikes: We even have live edge tables in our collection with authentic lightning damage, which gives a spectacular and raw effect!
Development plans: Trees that unfortunately have to make way for the construction of new roads or infrastructure and would otherwise be destroyed.
By rescuing these trees and transforming them into high-quality furniture, we prevent waste and give them the honour they deserve.
Transparency: Your Own 'Tree Passport'
The origin of wood is often a grey area in the furniture industry. At iQonya, we don't play that game. We import all our wood directly from reliable, strictly selected sources in Turkey.
Because we without middlemen or wholesalers, we have complete control over the chain. We know exactly where every olive, juniper or cedar tree stood and why it fell. Because we have these direct lines, we can, as it were, give you a 'tree passport' with your purchase. You are not just buying a piece of furniture; you are buying an authentic story that you can share with your guests.
The Table Tells the Story Itself
An iQonya table is far from a standard factory product. Because we work with trees that have had a previous life, the wooden slabs literally tell their own history.
When you look closely at our olive wood tables or robust live edge tables, you will see the traces of nature. Some trees stood in the open air for a while after they died. We proudly preserve the beautiful, deep erosion that this created in the wood.
Instead of planing away these natural imperfections, we use liquid, high-quality epoxy to accentuate and protect these very details. The cracks, erosion and weathering are frozen in time by the clear or coloured epoxy. The result? A functional work of art that is one hundred per cent unique.
