From Raw Live Edge Slab to High-Tech: The Ultimate Epoxy Meeting Table

We recently had the privilege of taking on that challenge for a client. The result? A unique epoxy river table that literally and figuratively shows the 'flow' of their business.
More than just a live edge table
At Iqonaya Natural Interiors, we work with the finest pieces of wood and high-quality epoxy every day. But for this project, we wanted to go a step further. The brief was to create a table that reflects the technical nature of the business.
We therefore chose a design where the "river" in the table is not empty, but filled with the elements that Kalkhoven works with every day.
If you look closely into the clear epoxy resin, you see a frozen world of electrical engineering. We carefully embedded various components such as fuses, colourful wiring, switchgear and even tools into the table. The contrast between the ancient, organic wood and the modern, industrial components creates a stunning effect.
Branding down to the finest details
Alongside the visual elements in the epoxy, personalisation is essential for a commercial project. A meeting table must exude professionalism.
With utmost precision, we routed the logo into the solid wood. This was then inlaid with coloured epoxy in the company's brand colours (shades of orange and red). As a result, the logo is permanently integrated into the table; it won't wear away and will always remain an eye-catcher.
The process: From raw live edge table to finished piece
A unique table like this doesn't just happen. It all starts with selecting the right wood. For this project, we looked for slabs with a robust character and an interesting grain pattern.
Once the wood was made to measure, the intensive pour began. Embedding loose objects in epoxy requires craftsmanship and patience. The objects must float at the correct depth, and no air bubbles must form.
As you can see in the process photos, the table is built up layer by layer. After curing, sanding and polishing follow, giving the wood its warm colour and making the epoxy crystal clear. The table is finished with a bold, black steel base that perfectly matches the industrial look.
The epoxy meeting table is more than a piece of furniture; it is a calling card and an icebreaker for every conversation that takes place around it. It shows that technology and nature can come together beautifully.
